Very friendly owner whom interact with his customers and explain the history behind his dishes. The resturant is nicely decorated with a warm ambience. The owner provides some small dessert and dishes for my 2 year old daughter for free! However the rib which my wife and I ordered are abit dry and tough (likely he uses high heat to cook the rib).

Fabulous experience chez L’entrepote. The moment you cross the threshold you are greeted by the restaurateur/front of house man/chef originale & one of the most entertaining storytellers this side of the Garonne! Hervé weaves a tale of mystery, harking back to the era immediately post World War 1, reckoning that his great grandfather (a man he points to with great swagger), was the inspiration for the culinary tour de force that is L’entrecote. We descended downstairs into a beautiful cavern lined w large blocks of the Bordelaise sandstone. The menu which is brief & to the point comprises essentially of 4 mains: Ribs, Gamba prawns, vegetarian salad or Steak. The food was phenomenal, the ribs are a hefty 1kg of tender meat resting in a brown sugar & soy paste. The accompanying salad was fresh, & the baked potato was a succulent mix of carbs ensconced in a foie gras & mustard sauce. Gamba prawns were equally fresh, you could taste the saltwater. Hervé gives very thorough explanations of the menu, his cooking methods & general life story as the night winds on. This may not be to everyone’s liking, but his raconteur skills are certainly enjoyable if you have nowhere else to be. Dessert; we plumped for the Irish coffee as he recounted how he learnt to make it in a Dublin pub over 40 years ago. Definitely worth a visit. The food is moreish, the venue a blend of old antiquities, candles lining the stairs, and grand chandeliers. A culinary highlight from our trip to Bordeaux.

I’m not sure why this place is not a 5.0. The rib meal they are known for was the one of the best meals I have ever had! The owner is great and this is a destination restaurant. I’ll be back.

Very passionate owner, quirky ornaments from his past and restaurant has a very interesting dungeon vibe. Food was good, especially the ribs and the curry-ish mash potato. Creme Brulee was good too! Would totally recommend!

Great food. Had to wait more than 10 minutes to get attention since host was chatting to other customers.

Without question the best restaurant I’ve visited in Bordeaux. The owner is incredible, very friendly and welcoming plus speaks English which was a huge bonus for me. Food is on another level to any place I’ve been to worldwide for ribs. Must visit place if you’re in Bordeaux. 10/10!

This is my favourite place in Bordeaux. The owner is the most passionate person I have ever met - he effuses his passion for the restaurant, his cooking and the history of this place that has been in his family for generations. Food is cooked in the old style and amazingly delicious - potatoes with cream and foie gras were a real highlight. Go for the ribs - they are incredible!!
